| Direct Measurements,
Inc.: DMI
wireless optical strain gage technology acquires a reference
image of its adhesively applied or laser-bonded strain
gage and subsequent images to measure strain. The gage
also has a "license plate" feature that permits
up to 4 billion identification numbers, so each gage
is identifiable as to location and part monitored.
The gage measures orthogonal and associated shear strains,
well beyond elastic strains. In fact DMI measured plastic
strains indicate accumulated damage in the object and
these data are used to predict the onset of crack iniatiaion.
